EAH bio: son of Kaguya-Hime, Akito Takenaka

So! Akito is my son of Kaguya-Hime/Princess Kaguya from The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. For simplicity's sake I consider him a Royal, although he's kind of a fish out of water in general among actual royalty, to be honest. While he supports the idea of choice, a good portion of him actually wants to take on the destiny that he has, if only to reunite with his birth mother again.  He's nervous, obviously, about leaving behind his family and friends on earth (and is even more afraid that Kaguya and the moon-people won't accept his gender identity), but otherwise? On the topic of his earth-parents, or the people who're currently raising Akito: they're not the ones who raised Kaguya-Hime, because Taketori no Okina (the bamboo-cutter before him) and his wife died after becoming ill once Kaguya left (and even then, they would have passed on because of old age). However, some decades ago a close relative of the couple signed the Storybook of Legends and became the next bamboo-cutter. After marrying and growing old with his wife, he later discovered an infant Akito in a similar fashion that Kaguya-Hime was found. Thus? The cycle continues.

Akito is a trans guy, and came to that realization at around the age of 8. how it went about went a little like this:

Cue him proclaiming to the current bamboo-cutter:
"Papa, I'm a prince!"
"P-prince? But Akiko-chan, Kaguya has always been..."
"Nope, it's prince. I'm the one and only moon-prince~!"

It took a bit of time to adjust, but his parents embrace their son for who he is. Akito got a swankified haircut, and his parents had access to charms from hired magic-users to help him transition socially (generations of being paid in gold by celestial royalty, to this very day, can do wonders).  He was well into nursery rhyme school however, and the news didn't go over so well as it had at home. But if money and connections can't buy happiness, then it at least convinced the latter to provide a trans-friendly classroom setting. As for bullies? Ramesh was (and still is) at least one friend willing to defend him/get his hands dirty, and in turn Akito helped said friend deal with classism and frickboys.

On the summer before starting Ever After High, he took a late summer trip to Book End. He was wandering about within the more covert parts of town and entered a doctor's office in the area, known for providing provisions for trans-umbrella kids, where he met Rosalia Fee, who in the end vouched for him to go there every month for an injection-based glamour spell to help him feel more comfortable with his appearance. They've been friends/trans allies since then, and though they used to hang out in secret (she had a royal-disdaining reputation to keep in tact), the two of them are open about their friendship. c:

As for rooming in proper dorms with Ramesh, of course), taking required classes without raising eyebrows (being the only guy in Princessology/Damsels in Distressing would seem a bit off, even if his bio mom is one herself), and the like: money, dear boy. And one too many heated arguments with the schoolboard and the Headmaster. Enough hush-money to allow for private tutors and MirrorNet courses for his more princess-oriented classes, and to list him as his true gender. 

Also, name facts: Akito can translate to a number of things depending on the  kanji. Kaguya can also mean "radiant light" or "scattered light" depending on how it's written, so to relate his name to that, the correct spelling of his given name is "bright person" (朗人). "Aki"  can also mean "autumn" ( 秋), being relevant since Kaguya leaves earth during the fall season (it starts on August on the Japanese callender, when Kaguya returns to the moon), but technically it's not the same word. His surname, Takenaka, means "(one who lives) in the middle of bamboo" (竹中), simply being the family name taken on by those raising him.

On another note, as his profile reads, he's going out with Hal Amir, daughter of The Little Prince! leavesofthree and I did some talking and let's just say that the two of them as a couple is out of this world~

BFFAs: Ramesh Yukimura has stuck with me since we nursery rhymes. That being said, I'm never too picky with friends.

Akito is an inquisitive, star-shaped peg in a round hole among your usual Royal stock, someone content under the loving care of an old and wealthy bamboo-cutter. While he doesn't mind his spelltacular lunar inheritance, he knows full well that it comes at the memory-losing price of leaving loved ones behind. It's the reason why he strives to live each day in to its fullest, embracing all walks of life (be they Royal or Rebel) with an open mind and an electic sense of adventure. He never backs down from trying new things and often finds himself remembering the little quirks and details that make everyone unique. After all, no fairy tale deserves to be alone and feel forgotten.
